Here's a great animated/video piece on preparing coffee using a moka pot from James Hoffman, 2007 world barista champ.

I just got back from the Small Axe NYC Coffee tour.
I Heart NY. I spent the better part of the late 90’s living in New York City – pretending to take college classes and chasing girls. These were the days before 9/11 when people were a little nicer, things were a little cheaper, and before I could appreciate coffee. Be that as it may (fortunately or unfortunately) it was before good coffee came to New York…mostly, except for Oren’s Daily Roast, of course.
The Associated Press reports that the National Federation of Coffee Growers of Colombia is planning to sue the publishers of a comic strip for $20 million, asserting that the strip damaged the Colombian coffee producers' image.
A recent strip by Mike Peters of Mother Goose and Grimm suggested the link between Colombian Coffee producers and organized crime.
Wow, ask and you shall receive.
In late 2008 Ron Kyle (producer of coffee roasting drums) passed away suddenly. The homeroasting community mourned the loss of a good guy and a good business.
In my Christmas 2008 wishlist, I wished that Ron Kyle's legacy be continued and that someone reopen RK Drums.
Well, it appears Ron's friend Shane has reopened the business, offering many of Ron's drum and motor products as well as promises to deliver some new ones - like a large cooler.
In the market for a larger homeroasting solution? Check out RK Drums.
