Education at Counter Culture

One of the things we really value here at Small Axe Coffee is that information wants to be free.  When we share with others the things that we know, it improves everyone's experience.  Whether they try something new, change their attitudes, or avoid making a crucial mistake.

So, today, I wanted to post a link to some great resources I found on Counter Culture's Counter Intelligence section of their web site. If only I lived closer to their regional training centers, I'd sign up for these classes:

Small Axe Pilgrimage to Jamaica

I just flew back from Jamaica and man are my arms tired!!  The Small Axe Coffee team just got back from a pilgrimage to honor the life of Bob Marley, see where he lived, and most importanly to experience the real Jamaica.

I'm working on a trip report and video, which will hopefully be ready before the small axe baby arrives in the next few weeks. The trip was nothing short of amazing. The people we met all over the country are among the nicest I have met, worldwide.  Respect.

Until the trip report and video, here's an amazing photo from the Blue Mountain Peak, by far one of the most beautiful places I have ever been.

Gimme! Coffee Gives Compost a Boost

Check it out.  Gimme Coffee has expanded their compost program.  They've always made roasted amazing coffees and work directly with farmers...but this is a great enhancement to their business practices. They partner with a community organization in upstate New York that hauls away 24 TONS of compost per year.

Check out more on their program here.

Reducing Cellulite and Other Uses for Coffee Grounds

I'm always trying to figure out what to do with my used coffee grounds.  The folks at Buy Well Coffee just came up with a new list of creative alternatives for those leftover coffee grounds.

The best one, however, is this:

"Cellulite reducer. Mix 1/4 cup warm, used coffee grounds and 1 tablespoon of olive oil. While standing over an old towel or newspaper, apply the mixture to your "problem areas". Next, wrap the areas with shrink wrap and leave on for several minutes. Unwind the wrap, brush loose grounds off your skin and then shower with warm water. For best results, it is recommended to repeat this procedure twice a week. A little weird to be sure, but as high priced cellulite creams have coffee in them, it just might work."
